A story in nine chapters. Why the world is looking for ground. A country between two seas. A city on the Black Sea. A village above a river. A product written by people who spend their lives on the body. The forces of nature that do the work. How it was born. What you take home. And how to reserve your dates.
01 · Why now
Not another spa. Not another view. The people who book retreats today arrive with a sentence: I cannot switch off, I have no energy, my body gave up, I feel heavy. They are not looking for luxury. They are looking for ground: a place where the nervous system can land, where the day has a rhythm again, where somebody competent takes the decisions for a week.
BAGHI was written for exactly these people, and first of all for the residents of the Middle East: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Doha. Fast cities, long weeks, air-conditioned years. A direct flight of about three and a half hours, a car for fifteen minutes, and a slope where the forest, the river and the silence do what no city can. Built by a producer from Dubai, to the standards of quality that Dubai taught him.

02 · The country
Between the Black Sea and the Caspian, under the Greater Caucasus, Georgia has spent three thousand years perfecting two things: hospitality and food. The word for guest and the word for God share a proverb here, "a guest is a gift from God", and it is still the operating rule of every household. Wine was born in these valleys eight thousand years ago. Bread is baked in clay ovens. Walnuts, pomegranates, herbs and mountain water are not a menu concept, they are what grows on the slope.
For a guest from the Gulf it is close, visa-free for most passports, safe, and refreshingly unpolished. Nobody performs here. The forest is real, the mist is real, the silence after the village mosque's evening call is real.
04 · The village
Erge sits above the Chorokhi river valley, south of Batumi, where the coastal plain turns into the first terraces of the Adjarian mountains. It is a working village: walnut and chestnut groves, hazelnut, tea on the lower slopes, cows that come home at dusk, houses with wide wooden verandas, a mosque whose evening call rolls across the valley, mountain springs that have never been bottled.
We looked at forty sites along the coast and in the mountains. Erge won on five things. Distance: fifteen minutes from the airport, yet no road noise. Water: a river below, springs above, mist in the mornings. Light: a south-facing slope that holds the sun until late and shows the sea at dusk. Forest: three sides of walnut, chestnut, laurel and a bamboo grove behind. People: a village that cooks, builds and welcomes, and that became our team.
BAGHI sits at the highest point of the village, on 2,600 m² of terraces. The name means garden. The village calls it that already.

05 · The product
Most resorts build the rooms and then ask a spa consultant what to put in the brochure. BAGHI was done the other way round. The programs came first: four of them, each starting from a sentence a guest arrives with, each ending with a change you can measure. The slope, the lodges and the spa cluster were then designed as the container for those programs.
The protocols were written with people who spend their lives on the body. Facial and body lines from Natura Bissé, Barcelona. Magnesium therapy from Of The Islands, Zechstein-sourced. Therapists trained in Bali and refined inside one of Dubai's most awarded hotel spas. A nutrition system, one kitchen, four plates, built on Mediterranean patterns and Georgian produce. A fitness lead, a wellness lead, a head chef, each with a written day grid and a written reason for every block.
06 · The forces of nature
Every program leads with one or two of them. None of it is decoration: each element has a measurable effect on the body, and each one is on the slope already, not in a rendering.
07 · How it was born
Ilyan Vladimirov has lived in Dubai for fifteen years. As a producer he led the launches of hundreds of commercial projects for world brands: Dolce & Gabbana boutiques in The Dubai Mall, campaigns and events for Versace, Armani Group, Al Tayer Group and Ounass, beauty salons, studios, and the wellness spa he founded inside a Marriott and sold in 2023.
Somewhere in those years he noticed the same thing in every client, every guest, every friend who flew in for a weekend: nobody needed another beautiful room. They needed a week that would put them back together. So he wrote the product first, four programs on paper, and only then went looking for the ground. He found it above Erge in 2023, put his own money into the slope, and has lived on it since.
BAGHI is the first project of this scale that is his own. That is why the money went in first, and why the product came before the architecture.
